MHI Group Delivers Two Large-Capacity Centrifugal Chillers for Singapore’s Marina Bay District Cooling System

  The high-efficiency chillers with low environmental impact will help expand Marina Bay’s district cooling system, which will service 28 buildings by 2026. MHI Receives MSCI’s ESG Rating of “AA” for the First Time — High Assessment of the Company’s ESG Initiatives —

Tokyo, July 13, 2022 – Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has received an ESG Rating of “AA” from MSCI(Note) for the first time. The new 2022 rating represents an upgrade from the Company’s previous “A” rating, and it demonstrates the high assessment MSCI accords to MHI’s ESG initiatives. MSCI’s ESG Ratings are given in seven ranked grades in descending order from AAA to CCC, based on the firm’s analysis of a company’s initiatives relating to environmental, social and governance issues. MSCI’s ESG Ratings serve as a global index for making ESG investments. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Systems, Ltd. (MHI Thermal Systems), a part of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group, has won the Energy Conservation Center, Japan Chairman’s Award in “Best Practice Category” at the 2021 Energy Conservation Grand Prize sponsored by the Energy Conservation Center, Japan (ECCJ), with support from Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). This award was presented for measures relating to energy savings from a factory heating and cooling system utilizing an aquifer(Note1) thermal energy storage (ATES) system. Mission Net Zero: MHI Sets Bold Targets to Achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2040

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) today has strengthened its commitment to realizing a Carbon Neutrality by setting two ambitious new targets with Mission Net Zero. First, MHI Group is aiming to remove all carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from its own operations by 2040. As an interim step and in line with MHI’s commitment to addressing climate change, CO2 emissions from its own business activities will be cut in half by 2030 (compared to 2014). These targets include the CO2 emissions emitted throughout its operations. MHI Group will work on decarbonizing its factories by implementing the technologies it has developed in its own facilities and further advancing energy conservation.
